WHAT:  A free employment law training for small businesses

When: Tuesday, January 19th, 2010   from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM

Where: Mountian States Employers Council

Why:
Thousands of small business owners are at an increased risk of civil rights challenges and potential discrimination claims and probably don't even know it. Senator Linda Newell has partnered with human resources professionals and employment law professionals across Colorado to help small businesses protect themselves.

"Small businesses in Colorado often do not have the time or resources to stay on top of employment laws", said Sen. Newell (State Senator, District 26). "These trainings are an opportunity for business owners to get the information they need to protect themselves and to keep their businesses strong."

Without human resources departments or employment law attorneys, business owners are on their own to know the most recent laws that affect them. For a short time, free trainings are being offered to educate small business owners on best hiring practices and important equal employment opportunity information so they can prevent unnecessary claims, reduce employee turnover costs, and focus on business operations instead.

After Each Session, A Small Business Will Be Able To:

  • Implement equal opportunity practices that are respectful and lawful
  • Identify work-related civil rights challenges and solutions
  • Protect yourself and your employees from unlawful discrimination
  • Identify when you need to ask a professional for advice
